To Transfer Specimens to RTL for Storage
To transfer semen, embryo, or oocyte specimens to RTL for storage, patients are required to complete paperwork to open an account at RTL and to authorize the transfer. In addition, patients must provide serology test results for HIV 1&2 (AIDS). The fees for the transfer and storage must be prepaid by Visa, MasterCard, check or money order.
Once the above requirements have been completed, RTL staff will contact the patients clinic to arrange for the transfer. RTL will use two cryoflasks for the transfer if there is more than one straw or vial of embryos, semen or oocytes being transferred. RTL documents the successful transfer through the use of a temperature exposure indicator, which monitors the cryoflask environment throughout the shipping process.
Please note this recent
publication which documents the safety of transported
embryos. RTL cannot verify nor guarantee the viability of the specimens being placed into long term storage or being transferred to a clinic.
