Oocyte (Egg)
& Embryo Freezing Centers
ReproTech works closely with fertility centers across the United States to make
embryo and oocyte freezing services available to cancer patients.
Oocyte
freezing, while rapidly gaining in use and success worldwide, is
still considered an experimental procedure by the American Society
of Reproductive Medicine, and as such should be offered only in a research setting with IRB oversight.
While RTL does not provide freezing services, our network of freezing centers will. Once
embryos or oocytes have been banked, we will coordinate the transportation of your specimens to RTL for long term storage. Please see the
ReproTech Network of Embryo\Oocyte Freezing Centers to find the facility closest to you.
Oocyte Freezing
for Fertility Preservation
Oocyte freezing, while
still considered experimental, has been gaining in both overall
success as well as availability across the country in recent
years. Young single women should be counseled about their options of oocyte cryopreservation,
ovarian tissue cryopreservation or embryo cryopreservation with donor
sperm.
Embryo Freezing for
Fertility Preservation
Embryo freezing is still
considered the "gold standard" method for fertility
preservation for females. It is most common to perform
cryopreservation at the 2PN (pro-nuclear) stage when freezing
embryos for fertility preservation purposes. Years of data
supports very high cryo-survival rates of embryos frozen at this
very early stage. Embryo freezing should be the first option
considered provided the patient has a male partner.
Disposition Options

embryos, oocytes or ovarian tissue. |
